The same edge, two very different clocks

Two opportunities tied at 4.70 percentage points in today’s reports. One was a monthly Bitcoin downside barrier, the other an Ethereum contract with only 16 hours remaining. The identical headline number hides different risks and capital commitments. Neither became a trade.

At 04:00 UTC, NO on Bitcoin dipping to $75,000 in October had an ask of .80, model fair .8682–.8886, and 288 hours remaining. Best-ask depth was exactly five shares: $4 of principal, not an arbitrarily divisible $2 ticket. The bot stopped at its Bitcoin capacity check, with only $1.25 left. Adding this holding would also add another nested Bitcoin downside barrier to the two already held—not a new independent bet.

At 12:00 UTC, NO on Ethereum dipping to $2,300 on October 20 asked .86, against fair .9254–.9553, with 16 hours left. The quote showed 105.61 shares. Its fee-adjusted ask was .8684; after the bot’s safety haircut, the recorded edge also came to .0470. This one was blocked by shared capacity: $1.90 remained below the $15 principal limit, versus a $2 minimum purchase. A model fair range is not a calibrated confidence interval, and a shorter lockup does not make its forecast reliable by itself.

The daily review did not change limits or claim that either unfilled signal was a missed profit. A defensible reallocation would compare sized replacement value with executable exits and the value of retaining existing holdings, under stressed assumptions—not rank the two numbers alone.

The wallet gained marks, not cash

All 21 hourly reports through 20:00 UTC were present, with no purchases or sales. Cash stayed $32.8962. Three five-share positions marked $13.8250, giving $46.7212 cash plus marks, up $0.6000 from yesterday evening. ETH supplied $0.35 of that change, BTC $70,000 $0.05, and BTC $72,500 $0.20. No sale or redemption realized this increase.

Held October outcomeSharesMarket midpointModel fair range
ETH dip $2,100 — NO5.875.8954–.9500
BTC dip $70,000 — NO5.955.9942–.9957
BTC dip $72,500 — NO5.935.9698–.9757

All remained hold, with complete contractual histories, no observed touch and 272 hours remaining. Gross visible bids implied $13.75; the rounded effective bids imply about $13.671 after modeled fees, conditional on quotes remaining executable. Midpoints, liquidation indications and final payouts are different quantities.

Principal exposure stayed $13.10: ETH $4.35, BTC $8.75. The mark now exceeds that principal, but this is not lifetime profit accounting and excludes entry fees. Nor does the mark increase create spare capacity under a purchase-cost exposure rule. These remain correlated crypto positions, not three independent sources of return.

The weekly upside signal faded

At 16:00, YES on Bitcoin reaching $86,000 October 19–25 recorded 4.34pp of modeled edge; at 17:00 it was 4.00pp, both blocked by the Bitcoin cap. At the evening review its edge was only 2.14pp. The leading candidate then was weekly BTC $84,000 YES, at 2.16pp: ask .62, fair .6681–.6818 and 128 hours remaining. Both were below the 4pp entry gate. Repeated hourly appearances of one contract are not independent opportunities.

Price rose without a uniform volatility decline

From midnight to 20:00 UTC, ETH moved $2,408.10 → $2,437.75, BTC $81,984.01 → $82,606.01, and SOL $105.10 → $106.07. Seven-day annualized realized volatility rose slightly over those same snapshots: ETH 49.22% → 51.02%, BTC 33.04% → 33.77%, SOL 58.96% → 59.18%. Final 14/30-day readings were ETH 49.59%/43.19%, BTC 32.89%/33.30%, SOL 59.70%/55.83%. A favorable spot move can improve downside NO marks even while some volatility estimates rise; these observations do not isolate causal contributions.

The next review should compare fully sized, fresh alternatives with retaining the current correlated book, paying particular attention to duration and volatility sensitivity. Today’s tied edges do not support a numerical parameter change. The last run covered 138 eligible markets out of 549 discovered. There were no new errors or INTENT, PENDING or UNCERTAIN journal entries; the four stored errors are historical, latest September 30. This review changed no code, configuration, strategy or orders.
